Celebrating Cultural Diversity: 'The Art of Capoeira’
In alignment with the spirit of cultural appreciation, Doon Public School, Paschim Vihar, proudly hosted "The Art of Capoeira" event as part of the Inter-School Geetanjali Fest 2024. Held on the 2nd of August 2024 in the school courtyard, the event saw enthusiastic participation from seven esteemed schools across the city. This initiative by DPSPV aimed to nurture an appreciation for global cultural traditions among students from classes IX to XII.
The event featured a captivating introduction to Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art that seamlessly blends elements of dance, acrobatics, and music. Emphasising coordination, rhythm, and expression, the event provided an engaging and educational experience for all students.
A highlight of the event was the remarkable performance by Shri Ram Global School. Students displayed their skills in a friendly yet competitive manner, impressing the audience with their agility, rhythm, and creative improvisation, making the event lively and captivating.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Arjun Dev Malik, a renowned artist specialising in Chhau, Indian contemporary, and Bharatanatyam dance forms. Associated with the Rasa United Group and Yagna Performing Arts, Mr. Malik shared his valuable insights on the importance of cultural exchange and the arts in fostering unity and understanding.
Shri Ram Global School emerged as the winner, demonstrating exceptional skill and creativity. Indraprastha International School and Bal Bharti Public School secured the second and third prizes, respectively.
